Final supporters
We, the law-abiding residents of Severn Drive, Berea West, surrounding areas and the greater Westville Area, unanimously and strongly object, to the unauthorised invasion and possible occupation of the land adjacent to Severn Drive and that borders the Chesterville and Westville communities.
Illegal land invasion brings in its wake, tampering with water and electricity connections and disruption of these services, to the authorised and legal home owners.
It will impact negatively on sanitation and hygiene, affecting surrounding properties, which in turn, may contribute to illnesses, diseases and the possible pollution of the ground water of the area.
The property owners of surrounding areas will run the risk of having their hard earned properties, facing the bleak prospect of devaluation.
It has been commonly observed, that along with illegal occupation, comes a rise in crime and lawlessness, service delivery protests and general disruption of peaceful existence.
We, as a united community, stand together and raise our objections to this reprehensible development and humbly ask the necessary authorities to step in and help protect our constitutional rights.

I honestly never thought this would gain this much steam when I started typing out my frustrations that night even though the situation out there is just getting messier by the hour. It is pretty wild to see so many names piling up because it actually proves that I am not just crazy for worrying about our property values and the water situation. We clearly have some real momentum now and I just need to figure out the best way to get all these names in front of the local council before things get even more out of hand.

I was just looking at the count and we are knocking on the door of one hundred signatures so please just send this link to a few neighbors before the day gets away from us. It feels like things are finally moving but I keep worrying that if we lose this momentum the authorities will just ignore us entirely which is honestly a terrifying thought.

Have relocated from the Clare Estate area to escape from the crime and squalor from the illegal squatter settlements. Have a house there which has lost value and cannot be sold. Do not want a repeat of this in my new home in Westville.
I understand the plight of the poor but land invasion is illegal and undermines our rights as a community. We demand protection in terms of the law from those who do not have rights to invade the land.
We as law abiding citizens cannot allow lawlessness and criminality to fester and enter into our areas. We cannot allow our properties to devalue nor can we put our community's safety at risk.
Please may the authorities assist with prevention and management of land invasion. We support efforts for all to access homes in a fair and law abiding manner.
I came from the same Chesterville community, through sacrifice, worked my way out of poverty. I can't have everything I worked so hard for taken away by ppl who've had the same opportunities as I.

I have great concern for the well-being of society, but the government and municipalities must take responsibility for the provision of decent housing and services, and intelligent town planning. Fewer costly meetings with banquets , expensive accommodation, fancy cars; less nepotism; greater efficiency - and we'll have funds for decent housing.
