We, the law-abiding residents of Severn Drive, Berea West, surrounding areas and the greater Westville Area, unanimously and strongly object, to the unauthorised invasion and possible occupation of the land adjacent to Severn Drive and that borders the Chesterville and Westville communities.

Illegal land invasion brings in its wake, tampering with water and electricity connections and disruption of these services, to the authorised and legal home owners.

It will impact negatively on sanitation and hygiene, affecting surrounding properties, which in turn, may contribute to illnesses, diseases and the possible pollution of the ground water of the area.

The property owners of surrounding areas will run the risk of having their hard earned properties, facing the bleak prospect of devaluation.

It has been commonly observed, that along with illegal occupation, comes a rise in crime and lawlessness, service delivery protests and general disruption of peaceful existence.

We, as a united community, stand together and raise our objections to this reprehensible development and humbly ask the necessary authorities to step in and help protect our constitutional rights.
