This is not just a nice idea... this is a must! Until very recently I have been working in mainstream with autistic children amd have watched the stripping of allocated support and see a widespread lack of understanding as to the needs of these young people. They have a right to an appropriate education system just like everyone else. Not only does this avoid distress but it also strengthens their chances of entering into the adult world as productive people with so much to offer. Please let this happen.

This petition needs as many people to sign as possible. It is a brilliant idea and needs more help and attention from the Government and local councils to cater for these children.

This is such an amazing opportunity for children who need that smaller class size my daughter who is autistic and has severe sensory difficulties would benefit greatly from this school

I think this proposal would suit my son greatly. Yes he is high functioning but the set up of the normal school he will be attending in September may hold him back. He is our star and we want him to shine!

Good luck guys I truly hope you manage to secure the funding these youngsters so richly need and deserve. It is a tragic fact that parents have to go to these lengths to secure the education opportunities our grandfathers fought to guarantee would be provided by the state for everyone.

We are desperate for a provision which meets the individual and complex needs of children with Autism in the Plymouth area.
I can only pray that this idea becomes reality so that there will be a place where my son won't feel anxious every single day and where there is potential he might even enjoy going to school.
A place where his complex social and communication needs will be understood and supported.
A place that is driven by the needs of the children themselves rather than the unachievable targets being set out in mainstream education.
Most of all I dream of a place that sees him as a whole person, not seeking to place punitive measures on him to make him conform but instead use a positive behavioural approach.
