Plans are afoot to change how our supervised practice placements are allocated.
It used to be that you could choose 3 placements and would get allocated one of those. This is NOT going to happen anymore. These placements are going to be allocated to us with no choice or student input.
This is important because if you are interested in medical and get sent to surgical it might not be in your best interests. You could get sent back to a bad placement!
Also a lot of people get their 1st jobs where they do their supervised practice so its important we have some say in this.
Food for thought so sign the petition if you disagree with having the new imposed changes.
PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT - Doing so will add further weight and your opinions are very valuable.
Yours sincerely

The momentum behind this petition highlights how vital it is for students to retain input regarding their professional training. This level of engagement confirms that our concerns about placement transparency are shared by the wider cohort. We are now preparing to submit these collective reflections to the relevant department heads.

I got my current job because of my placement. If they take away the choice they are basically taking away our future employment options.

Please dont do this. I need to be in a specific area to finish my credits and if I get sent somewhere random I might fail.

Seriously? We already pay enough for this degree. Let us pick our placements at least.

This is ridiculous. How are we supposed to build a career if we dont get any say in where we train? My focus is geriatrics and I will be so upset if I get stuck in a surgical ward.

The people making these rules clearly have no idea how hard the placement process is already. Leave it the way it is.
