This petition is against the cruel "Interim custody" laws prevailing in Pakistan's family/guardian courts, where in case of a child custody battle amongst divorced/separated parents, the children are handed over to one parent and the other parent gets extremely restricted access to his/her own children. This access is mostly as less as a meeting, ONCE a MONTH for TWO HOURS, and thats within the court premises!!!
We are in favour of "JOINT Interim Custody", where mother and father gets reasonable time with their children. A parental visitation schedule must be immediately enforced by the court, whenever a custody case is registered. Each parent must get reasonable time where he/she can participate actively in the upbringing and grooming of their children.

Details: In Pakistan, when a child custody case is filed in a family court by any of the divorced / separated parent, the court usually hands over the child to one of the parents temporarily until the case is heard and final decision is made. This is called "Interim Custody". In Pakistan, custody litigations usually takes several YEARS until the final verdict is announced! Until then, the parent who does not have "interim custody" is allowed to meet their child only ONCE in a MONTH for TWO HOURS and thats within the court premises!!! This results in overtime depletion of parent-child bonding and many other psychological complications for children. We believe a child has equal right on both parents, mother or father, even when they separate or divorce. The court must enforce "Joint Interim Custody" for mother and father, where the child gets REASONABLE time with both individually. A reasonable time for a baby 6 months old, to be spent with mother or father, is different for the child aging 5 years. The court should set reasonable visitation parameters and enforce it strictly.
