These kids are good students and they have worked so hard to get to graduation. A mistake like this shouldnt keep them from walking across that stage with their friends.

Ridiculous that the school is going after them like this. Everyone did dumb things when they were 18. Let them graduate and move on.

My heart hurts for these seniors. They made a mistake but felony charges are way over the line. Let them finish school!

I am by no means perfect. I recognize that. I have also made MANY mistakes, I know that because I have suffered my consequences from each.

If you are not signing the petition and standing with these parents then keep your negative comments to yourself. Obviously we are all human and we make bad decisions. I'm sure neither of you are perfect in any way, shape, or form.

So are you saying if I keep all of the little rules, it's okay to break the big ones? Do you need an explanation from the school policies where it should define that if a crime is committed against the school but it's by a group of "great students" then we should just sweep it under the rug? Actually, I think you should go into the details of the prank--tell us about the good natured fun that went into this prank. I'm sure it's a tough one for a parent to swallow, but sometimes your good kids royally screw up. A felony isn't defined based on whether the person who commits the crime was previously "good" or "bad." Consequences aren't the result of the people that make the choices, they're the result of the choices that the people make. Being a good person most of the time doesn't exempt you from the consequences of the bad choices you make some of the time and as a parent is this really a delusion you want to sell your kid into? Get an extended holiday vacation to sit at home and watch Netflix then have all the charges dismissed?? Now that's laughable.

Lets not ruin their future forever over a bad decision in high school.

No physical harm done to 'anyone'? I suppose that somehow negates the thousands of dollars in damages to Federal property. When everyone is complaining about their taxes this year, at least you know what your money is fixing now. I think it's ridiculous that we use the excuse "they're just dumb high schoolers." I am a high school student myself, and never once has the idea of breaking in and trashing the school crossed my mind. I understand a "senior prank" but anyone with even half of a brain would know that this plan was far beyond that. When you make an adult decision, you accept an adult consequence. It seems they make plans well...they'll figure out what to do with their lives after this. For the first time in most of these kids lives they are FINALLY being held responsible for their actions. Welcome to reality.

These kids broke into a locked building and damaged school property and just because they are the top kids we are suppose to be light on them. Nooooo. From several accounts some of the kids even showed up drunk and high for this prank. It was the kids whose parents have condoned drinking and even held "drinking" parties at their houses when they were younger. Instead of teaching them to party and how to have a good time why not start teaching responsibility and what consequences come from ones actions. This is not for all the kids because most of the kids are truly good kids from good families.
