The role of police is to provide safety & protection to the community, not to impart private information to alleged perpetrators and comprise victims' safety. This is a colossal violation of the purpose of police, ethical misconduct and an abuse of the power in that position.

I have been through domestic violence and the police are supposed to be there for the victim, not to be a conduit for the abuser to continue to make life hell. This police officer abused his position of trust and should be sacked immediately.

This policeman is not above the law by breaking it. His responsibility is to protect the innocent not put people's lives in jeopardy and make them afraid of not only the criminal but of the police and justice system. Victims must NOT be put through this. They must be protected and have confidence in the police force.

The officer provided confidential information to a "friend", a civilian, a domestically violent criminal, information that further endangered the victim of his domestic abuse. That is not only an offence in itself, but morally reprehensible behaviour from a person entrusted with the power to "serve and protect" as an officer of the law. The corruption must run fairly deep for such a person to retain their position in one of the most important roles of decent society. Profoundly treacherous.
