Sterling Equities has been an owner of the New York Mets since 1980 and full owner since 2002. Fred Wilpon is its Chairman and CEO. Jeff Wilpon is Executive VP and Chief Operating Officer. Over the past years, this management team has made poor business decisions about investments in players. As a result, the NY Mets franchise has become a 2nd tier organization in a community that demands and expects boldness and intelligence. The NY economy and the community is ill served by the current NY Mets ownership, which has lost the necessary boldness and ability to develop and sustain a competitive team in the 21st Centrury.
