1. The Selkirks conform closer to the British Shorthair than any other cat so should remain in the British Group 2. The Selkirks have a longhair variety as do the British so they should stay in the group 3. The British have used foreign outcrosses to get colourpoints and new colours so there is nothing to distinguish them from the Selkirks using outcrosses. 4,. Both Selkirk and British have Persian ancestry. 5. The Selkirk have a cobby body more close to the British Shorthair 6.The Selkirk are totally different in type to any other rex cat.
