We the undersigned feel there is a tremendous need for the arts, both visual and performing, in Sedro-Woolley.

Our city and the surrounding area are rich in artistic talent, be it as an artist, artisan, or performer, yet there is no central location to provide the community access to the arts. In part this is due to a lack of available and affordable space for meetings, workshops, rehearsals, showings and performances.

It is our belief that the current library, located at 802 Ball Street, would be an excellent location for an arts enrichment center. This would potentially allow for the creation of collaborative meetings within the arts, classes and educational programs for adults, rehearsals and performances, gallery showings, and after school and summer art programs for children.

A well-rounded community includes ample opportunities to regularly enjoy recreational sports and the arts. Currently, Sedro-Woolley has a skate park, basketball court, ball parks, numerous general use parks, including 2 new ones which are in the works, a community center, and a senior center; even the dogs have a park, yet there is no home for the arts.

We respectfully request the Sedro-Woolley City Council members use serious consideration for an arts center when determining the future use for the soon to be former library building located at 802 Ball Street.
