the number of thefts in the last few months have been very disconcerting.Supposedly we have night security but this year i did not see them once.An entrance gate is just one step and cameras that can't be tampered with is another.

Looking forward to feeling safe again on our own boat in our own town Marina! Terrible when the first thing you do is check to see if a thief had been prowling around on your boat!!

Is there any better way to get this out to all Seasonal Boaters of Gananoque Municipal Marina? Cameras in positions that can't be moved on every dock ie :400,500,etc. and high enough to avoid damage by thieves.

The gate at Kingston confederation bassin is a good example. If Gananoque Municipal Council dont have a budget for it, lets make a special donation for it! It is much less than a deductible.

In light of the recent boat theft and this past years other thefts and break ins, the marina needs to address the security overall in order to maintain it's valued location and name. A combination of camera monitoring high enough to cover various views and out of reach, carded gates to dock areas, and manual security observation with a mandate to monitor more than noise.

I sincerely feel the marina should invest its profits into making the marina a safer environment. Such a a proper CCTV surveillance system. And a REAL security guard should be on duty as soon a marina staff leave. This with a pass key gate will go a long way to improve security and safety. I am certain this could easily be done if the marina used it revenu to improve the marina instead of taking the money to improve other Gan municipality projects.

Gates are needed with swipe cards...not numbered key pads. Look no farther than Trent Port Marina in Trenton. Cameras can be moved...spray painted over...covered. Cant deter all crime but some.

This gate along with overlapping cameras on all docks and a proper connecting WiFi network needs to be considered.

The Vandalism where the people came in by boat was Targeted at "someone" who we all know pissed off another person...actually he pissed off quite a few people Cameras are what is needed and for the people in the office to get off their asses and actually look at the cameras and see who is coming and going. Gates will and do not stop anyone.. As far as the tire slashing, that is a different story. There should be a time limit on the amount of time at any one time a car is left in the limited number of handicapped parking spots. One week or longer is too long to hold up a spot, maybe the Marina should have a Golf Cart and "long term" handicap parking could be shuttled to the dock. I think a forum should happen to explore more ways to better the Marina, it really is a Gem in the rough.

We need to have some other kind of security system in place, other than the kid in the office watching his phone.

Security gates at "town" marinas with customers owning larger more expensive boats should be a standard feature at all marinas.

Stop waisting money on security guards that are useless. That company is a joke so are the employees. Cams and gates. And lighted areas that have the cameras

While a gate may curtail some of the dubious activity that happens at the marina, I feel a comprehensive set of video cameras would greatly enhance the security aspects of the marina. Cameras should be able to cover all docks, walkways and waterways into the slips as well as a better set up for the present cameras that only cover part of the parking lot. This past summer I had four tires slashed while parked in the handicap zone spot, the one closest to the main office.
Pretty sad when the City of Gan has let a premium marina location turn into a vandals and thief's self-help emporium whereas Costco, for example, has numerous multi video camera setups that would deter the undesirables that know that security at the Gan Marina is a joke.

The security guards are a waste of money. They sit all night in the back room with the blinds closed. I know, I leave every day at 5AM and I see them through the slits in the blinds in there watching movies or playing on the internet on a computer. One of them told me they walk the dock once every 2 hours. Only thing I have ever seen them do is tell people to turn the music down. At least a gate will keep those that are not welcome off the dock. I am from Gananoque, my signature comes up Akron OH because Of my work computers IP address.
