Sign to Oppose A High-Speed Rail Bypass Through Southeastern Connecticut

We must not squander a once-in-a-generation opportunity to modernize rail travel along the Northeast Corridor, on plans destined either to fail, or to irreparably harm the historic towns, and estuaries of southeastern Connecticut.
Twice, Senator Richard Blumenthal, a keen supporter of rail travel, called the proposed Kenyon to Saybrook bypass through Old Lyme, “half-baked and harebrained.”
We agree.
We urge you to remove this flawed coastal bypass -- both as a mapped route and as a concept - from the NEC Future Preferred Alternative, and from any further planning by the Federal Railroad Administration along the Northeast Corridor.

Please please do not wreck our act with this Tier 1 plan. Improve existing rail. Saving 20 minutes is not worth wrecking Mystic Aquarium a big money maker for the state, many Aquifers along the proposed line. This is a HUGE disaster for our state and a misuse of Federal Funds! Anne Page
The plan is to take private homes and working Farms, several wildlife refuges, historic sites, a Land Trust and destroy even more of our coastlines and much more. All to save 20 minutes travel time. The cost and damage that will be done is not worth it. I highly oppose this bypass plan.
I live in a neighborhood which would be impacted by this proposal directly. This proposal would also damage the economy of my local community of Mystic, which is presently thriving. Repair and improve existing infrastructure, that is the way forward.
i live in westerly and find the train is very accessible in the center of town. I live near the the down town and often see people walking by my home with their luggage ,it would truly just add to the suburban sprawl to move the train out of the more populated areas.Please don't do it.
Old Lyme is forever my home. I believe in rail travel but not at the expense of my town's historic value when it could be routed could be elsewhere. I have not seen why it could not parallel Amtrak's current tracks.

I am located at the Kenyon, RI end of this potential fiasco. The Bypass as last proposed would cut through my property - essentially splitting my 2 acres in half!! There are 3 or 4 private properties that would be seriously impacted by this plan. Just DON'T.
