Let's keep academics and athletics in the lives of our children. Solve this transportation issue, so our kids can stay in the class room and participate on school teams.

The sleep studies used to rationalize the school start time change may be valid, but employed in isolation those changes have caused issues because other parts of the system were not changed. Kids missing more school, higher transportation costs for charters, unreliable charter service, late arrival at competitions, and administrative overhead were all avoidable. Additionally the football team had to rent lights (saw them delivered yesterday) that are inadequate and expensive, but better than pitch dark. Rumors of an additional 20 minutes added to the day next year are equally concerning - hopefully any extra time will be added to the 'zero' period and not to the end of the day.

It is already a challenge for student athletes to complete their homework when participating in a sport after school. When students miss a large portion of their classes due to insufficient transportation, they are not getting the proper education to complete their tasks assigned by the teachers.

I strongly support this petition!!! Releasing athletes 3 hours early for a sporting event is not really feasible, kids can't miss that much school time.

Change of school start and end times was totally unnecessary and it did actually make things worse than help, in my opinion. And the fact that it creates class-athletic activities schedule conflict is really bothering.

The kids should have a bus that takes them to their events. This should be something that is easy to take care of.

A problem has been identified regarding academics being negatively affected for student athletes. Lets correct it.

Outrageous that players would be forced to leave that early. To the district I say fix this gross oversight asap or be faced with litigation.

Please find a way to provide transportation for our students. Having them drive themselves and others opens the district to potential liabilities and law suits should accidents or other things occur.

Please help our student athletes BE student athletes by making their transportation coincide with the school day schedule.

Another example of how late start times don't work and another example that you need to FUND transportation SPS! You try to do everything while keeping the number of buses the same - fund the entire process of school and quit doing it with half transportation. Force the state to fund it too. Stop making our students succeed in spite of their district's and state's failing them

Please help our students who are involved in athletics to not suffer academically while participating in athletic events. It is so unfortunate that the SPS did not plan for these kids!

Making kids miss lunch and 2 classes to compete in WIAA athletics was totally avoidable. Sea. Public Schools clearly didn't think about extracurricular activities, and instead got excited about sleep studies. Late start has been really poorly implemented, and booster orgs and parents have no options. We need to fix this now and not what until next year.
