The ending was horrible. An OVA with a better ending would also be a great idea if they can't make a season 3. I really want a season 3! Most of us just want to see Ahiru together with Fakir. It would be better if the next sequel would be a season 3 instead of a spin-off. I have already read that article about Ikuko Itoh saying that she is either going to make a spin-off or a new story about Fakir and Ahiru. I am of course against the idea of a spin-off. I want to see Ahiru as the protagonist. I don't want to see any other character taking Ahiru's place as the protagonist. Plus it would ruin the story. Most anime/manga spin-offs hadn't gone that well. Most fans just don't want to see another character taking the main character's place. And when it comes to a masterpiece like Princess Tutu, a spin-off would ruin the whole story. Well......that's just my opinion. I am just going to wait for a season 3.....

I have seen some people say that Princess Tutu has a "perfect" ending just because it was something we didn't expect. And they also said that the good person(they probably meant Ahiru) shouldn't get a happily ever after. It's true that we didn't expect it but it's a cliffhanger not a perfect ending. Some say that Rue was the one who got a terrible ending because she didn't get to meet her parents and she married "a person who doesn't exist."(I think she was referring to mytho). What I think is that Rue got a happy ending which she did not deserve. Ahiru deserves a better ending than her but she did not get it. No one in town remembers her, not even her own friends. That's just too much. Above all that she remains as a duck. Fakir loves her but they can't even get together as a couple since Ahiru is a duck and Fakir is a human. Rue could live her life in luxury with a kindhearted prince while Ahiru spends the rest of her life unable to even talk to Fakir. That seems kind of unfair. Ahiru should be rewarded with a human form. I wouldn't even mind if Fakir and Ahiru were to die together like Romeo and Juliet. They could have been seen together as ghosts like Heathcliff and Catherine in the 2009 version of Wuthering Heights. From what I know, Itoh Ikuko had said that if she were to make a third season, it would be about Ahiru and Fakir. The majority of us want a third season about Ahiru turning in to a human. I am just going to sign this petition and wait.....

I would love to have a 3rd season of this show to wrap it up. The ending was short. A good plot twist that Ahiru didn't get the pretty prince but instead she had some feelings towards fakir. She sadly ends her fate to stay as a duck in the anime. In the manga it ends with mytho actually loves ahiru just hasn't figured it out (she isn't a duck). I wanted the ending head more toward that type of ending or just becomes a human. Falls in love with fakir blah blah blah. I guess we all just don't like tragic endings.
