How can an institution of higher learning deny their students the simple request of utilizing available space? The mat is provided and there are no costs to the school. Clubs are student-led and non-scholarship, therefore the Title IX excuse doesn't apply. Best of luck!

I fully support this cause. High school/College is perhaps the best character building sports available, builds responsibility, discipline and fitness. My son Brian has participated in wrestling since about 4th grade, and was a founding member of the Seahawk Club, he was a Dean's list student every semester and graduated in 2012 from UNCW with dual degree's & now in Grad school at Univ of Miami with same GPA. I firmly believe that wrestling helped Brian gain some of the things I elements I mentioned and believe mats and a dedicated place to practice on campus will benefit other student athletes as well. These student athletes have demonstrated their commitment to UNC-W... it is time UNC-W does the same! The Seahawk Wrestling Club is of exceptional benefit to the university and its student body. The sport develops bodies, minds and spirits. It builds esteem, sportsmanship, work ethic and leadership skills. Wrestling engenders agility, balance, control, reflexes and strength. Of course UNC-W will endorse and support this endeavor ... or we will have to take 'em to the mat!

After starting this in the campus suites study room I had hopes that the club would expand and reach many different kids. With Mikes hard work the club has grown but because of its off campus location it hinders many students who aren't able to travel to the location. Moving this great club onto campus will not only help increase the amount of kids, but it will also help with a healthy outlet for overworked kids at a conveinent and accessible location.

As president of the lacrosse team I give my full support the the wrestling team. I know all the guys and they are good people looking to strengthen their team. We (the lacrosse team) are allowed to practice on campus and it has exponentially added to the number of members that show up. If we were off campus I do not believe we would have the support that the wrestling team has already established.
