My own experience with mammography led to me being strongly encouraged to havbe a breast reduction so that detection would be made easier. i had the surgery because i was so worried about lack of detection. i hope that this pettion makes a differrence.

Missed my wife's in November. Chemo stars next week. Hope it' snot too late.

thanks for bringing this to my attention. I was not aware of this, even though I have dense breasts. It has never been mentioned at any mammogram I have had (every two years). Thanks, and good luck.

I've heard that about 20% of people have dense breast tissue. It caused me a great scare in 2012.

I'm 56 and I was terrified when my results took over a month to come back. I learned nothing about why they were delayed except that they were sent to Vancouver. Please don't keep my results a mystery. Inform women of what results are identified.

I have a once yearly mammogram and a twice yearly ultrasound. I have dense breast tissue. So far, the ultrasounds have detected calcifications (precancerous/shows as white spots). It was a very quick and easy surgery. One day of sleeping off the anesthesia, 1/2 inch scar. If those calcifications had not been detected through ultrasound, there is no doubt whatsoever, they would have formed tumors and I would have faced a mastectomy and hundreds of thousands of dollars in surgeries, chemo, radiation, medication and reconstruction. Fortunately I live in Connecticut, where the radiologists do send out a letter after every mammogram informing you of your rights to have an ultrasound because of dense breast tissue. It only makes financial (and humane) sense to enact this practice in Canada.

I agree that women should be entitled to all information pertaining to their health. In addition, more stringent tests than mammogrms should be made available as standard care to prevent breast cancer.

Dense tissue should make further screening mandatory and be covered by the Government Canada wide!

Received mammograms for the past 15 yrs and was diagnosed in 2012 with stage 3 breast cancer. I was also told I had dense breast when I received the diagnosis.
