This definitely needs to go thru. It is difficult enough losing your spouse, without worrying how you will raise and support the children.

This change is long overdue! Family survivors of fallen law enforcement officers walk daily carrying the unimaginable grief of suddenly, and often violently, losing their hero – the surviving widow’s spouse, the surviving child(ren)’s parent - in the line of duty. This change is a must so that the Florida Retirement System Investment and Pension plan law does not add to this grief by financially penalizing these surviving widows and children. Instead, these survivors must be more adequately, financially provided for in the wake of the inconceivably tragic loss they have suffered and which will continue to impact them as they clutch to the memory of their fallen hero - who died while serving and protecting the citizens of and visitors to the State of Florida. I support this bill!

This is the absolute right thing to do! Our families grieving the loss of their hero should not be financially penalized. These families have paid the ultimate sacrifice suffering the loss of their hero. This is the least the State of Florida can do for our survivors.
