We, the Students of Satellite High School, petition the administration of Satellite High School to begin holding pep rallies in the school gymnasium beginning Friday October 6th, 2017 and thereafter.

The current location of SHS pep rallies not only discourages unity, but also student participation. With these discouragements a lack of school spirit and pride is created among the student body. The endorsement of this movement would not only further unify the attendees of SHS, but establish a sense of pride within the school.

The Administration argues that since the gym capacity is 930, and current student enrollment sits at about 1300, that holding pep rallies in the gym would break fire codes. However 1,319 is the number of students enrolled at SHS, not the number of students that attend during 7th period. The actually attendance level will be much less than 1,319 due to students that do the following:

• Are early admitted at the college
• are Dual enrolled at the college during 7th period
• Students who have an active BPS Waiver during 7th period

For these reasons the student body of Satellite High School believes that holding pep rallies in the SHS gym should present no issue.
