School Session Changes
School is in session for nine months and out for three months. When the students start school in september they are very focused and interested but after about six months students seem to become disengaged. They lack focus on what is going on in the classroom and they stress over homework and upcoming tests. The students have become tired physically and mentally. There have been methods to fix this, however. Many people suggest school being in session for six months and out of session for six months. This allows students to have a lengthy break and still have a lengthy school year. It starts in september and ends in february, giving them a six month school year to learn their basic knowledge. Then school is off from March to August to give the students a break to relax and catch up on their sleep. Some people express concern about this method not allowing enough teaching time. On the contrast however, there have been teaching methods and learning methods to utilize all the time and feel like there was the right amount learning done. So, switching over to this method could make students become more engaged, and still allow enough learning time. The teachers can teach the basic knowledge a student needs to know instead of filling their mind with information that will only be used on homework or an upcoming test. If we use the six months on and six months off method it can make a student feel less stressed out, anxious, and over all tired. In conclusion, the students will have just enough time to learn and plenty of time to relax with their friends.
