School dress code

Christ, i don't OWN anything with a logo smaller than 2x2. There's no way I'm getting a whole new wardrobe for my senior year

Why do this to everyone. I see why, but you know this will only hurt the school! Stop while your ahead.

We should have freedom of dress

This is depriving us students to display our individuality which is supposedly being "encouraged" throughout our district. These new rules are going to generate more rebellions than "better learning environments".

Let kids have an identity

There is no evidence or even a rational theory that could even indicate the correlation between logos and a more healthy learning environment. As the old saying goes “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, so now, why are we enforcing these peculiar dress code rules? This is an example if encompetance at its finest, it’s clear that Mr.Brown is struggling with power issues.

NO DRESS CODE

Clothing defines who we are as a person, period. No one is distracted by a logo on a t shirt, and if the school board actually paid attention to their schools they would know that.

uh i spent 1000+ on clothes that i cant wear.

The new school dress code consist of not allowing us to wear logos and designs larger than 2X2. High school is supposed to shape students into adults and give the opportunity for you to figure out who you are and who you want to become. However, how am i supposed to do that when i have restrictions on what i can and cannot wear. The school tells us to express ourselves, and be different and preaches individuality, but how am i supposed to do that when i cant even wear a t-shirt that has a design on it. By doing this they are suppressing our individuality and self expression. Additionally, the town of Sebastian consists of many low income areas. Many of the students currently have limited wardrobe, so this new dress code eliminates the majority of their already existing wardrobe. This means that many families will now need to spend money that they don’t have to purchase new “school appropriate” clothing, putting even more financial stress on families that need to also buy new school supplies. Wearing certain clothing also contributes to students confidence (which many in our age group lack) therefore by constricting our outfit choices they are potentially lowering students confidence which is an issue many already struggle with. Lastly, there are many appropriate outfits that are now being eliminated from our options. They claim it will “reduce potential issues that could affect the learning environment” please inform me of the issues that a cartoon cat on my t-shirt is going to cause. i believe this entire thing is absurd. Last i checked, implementing a new dress code isn’t going to solve any issues that are currently occurring at our school and will probably result in more. Regardless of how you dress and what your style is i think everyone can agree that this dress code is complete rubbish and i don’t plan on abiding by it since my clothing choices are not causing anyone harm.

How is it teaching young adults to have the freedom of speech or freedom to be who they want, and take it from us, yes we go to school to learn, but we also go to show who we are, i don’t see how it is harmful to my learning abilities seeing someone wear something colorful or unique, it takes that away
