The school board decided against the boundary change and we have secured our original outcome. I honestly never thought this would gain such traction but you all proved that community action works. Please stay observant to ensure this result remains in place for our families.

There is a School District of Palm Beach County proposal to have students attending Pierce Hammock Elementary School attend Osceola Creek Middle School instead of Western Pines Middle School.

Osceola Creek Middle School is located 2 miles west of Seminole Pratt off of 180th (over 7 miles from Western Pines).  At minimum, this will be inconvenient for parents driving in a westward direction to school seeing that most parents in the area drive east to work.

Students will have to leave their homes earlier and will be getting home later.  This will cause additional time pressure on parents and may cause time restraints on after-school activities.  There is increased risk to students due to distance of travel (Seminole/Pratt Whitney already has a history of traffic deaths) and additional time away from parental care.

Also, the additional bus service to and from Osceola Creek Middle School is wasteful spending of our tax dollars.  This money could be better spent keeping music/arts programs, improving school sites, buying resources such as computers, musical instruments and books.

There are likely many other negative impacts.

If we don't act now, this will be another negative obstacle for our community.  Please sign this petition to show the school board that you are not in favor of this proposal.

It is also recommended that you voice your concerns directly to the School District of Palm Beach County by sending an email to [email protected]

I am honestly stunned by how many of you stepped up to back this cause. Seeing this response makes it clear that our community is truly united against these changes. This momentum belongs entirely to you.

Seminole pratt is a death trap already. Why would they want kids on the road there longer? Seriously think about the safety of these children.

This makes absolutely no sense. My kid is already exhausted and the drive to Western Pines is bad enough as it is. Leave our school zones alone!

Who is making these maps?? It is like they have never actually driven in the acreage during rush hour. Totally out of touch.

Stop the wasteful spending. We have enough problems with traffic without adding extra bus routes for no reason.

Ridiculous idea. We bought our house specifically for the school zones. Stop fixing things that arent broken just to waste gas and tax money.
