Teachers are professionals who need time to prepare, reflect, collaborate, and plan effective lessons for their students. Only with thoughtfully thought out, carefully planned lessons will our students learn.

I agree this schedule is unworkable and will not benefit students. They don't need quantity they need quality.

The burn out rate is going to grow significantly if we keep adding more to our curriculum without taking anything away. We are given so much new without time to really learn it. We need common planning times with teammates and TIME to actually plan!! I feel everyday that I am at least one day behind and many many dollars short.

Teachers need time for planning, differentiating, and reflecting. Teachers need to be trusted, respected, and valued.

Work at least 2 1/2 hrs extra every day at school then catch up on lesson planning at home.

The time pinch is even greater for teachers in Special Education. I work in a school on a 7 period day. I have 5 different classes to prep for each day in addition to providing case management and due process services for a caseload of 15 students. The amount of prep time I get is the same as General Education teachers, some teaching the same class 5 times a day.

We also need to be paid for the several hours it takes of our own time to complete district mandated SOEI requirements. Why do we continue to work for free?

This is not a student, parent or teacher driven initiative. Students already have opportunities to make up credits. More time in class and in school for everyone is a one size fits all response to the graduation problem. More doesn't equal better.
