We are asking the decision-makers at SBS to consider re-introducing Irish (Gaeilge) language programmes. We, the undersigned, are Australian citizens or residents and either Irish-born of Irish descent Irish language students have a general interest in this culture or just appeal for a broadening of the current multi-linguistic offerings on your channel Notwithstanding our cultural background or level of comprehension of 'Gaeilge', we would be most appreciative if you, SBS, added Irish Gaeilge material back to your charter, thereby demonstrating your support of the first language of Ireland (and now official EU language). Making Irish Gaeilge material available to the Australian public would help embrace one of the cornerstones, indeed foundations, of our multi-faceted Australian history and to celebrate a language that has lent a lot of vocabulary to English itself.
