We the members of the community that supports persons who are mentally handicapped, object to the hiring of Chelsea Handler, a cable comic who gleefully,willfully and ethusiastically slurs disabled persons with relish at every opportunity, as this year's host of the MTV/VH1 VMA Awards. WE ARE BOYCOTTING THAT AWARDS SHOW, THE NETWORK & IT'S ADVERTISERS and the PARENT COMPANY: VIACOM. We also will be boycotting the movies and products associated with Jennifer Aniston (including Smart Water), who despite public calls has REFUSED to apologize for her use of the word 'RETARD' on morning show 'Regis & Kelly.' Our online community and petition members will make Ms. Aniston, Ms. Handler, as well as their networks, advertisers, and products they represent aware of our complaint. These slurs, are suddenly de rigeur by a certain class of rude, clueless celebrities who don't even have the decency to APOLOGIZE, and in the case of Handler, do not INTEND TO - and we will make our anger and dissatisfaction known. Handler offends on a near constant basis. We will be making our dissatisfaction with her as host of the MTV/VH1 VMA Awards known publically and and in an organzied effort. We will speak with our wallets to their advertisers. The Viacom corporation prides itself on civic and charitable initiatives to enlighten and educate, which makes the selection of Handler as host of the video music awards (VMAs) even more perplexing. You cannot extend a hand to Down Syndrome Organizations, The Buddy Associations, and various other handicapped initiatives including VH1's Classic Rock Autism initiative, while at the same time glorifying and using as mouthpiece a woman who slurs said handicapped individuals by calling them 'retards,' and who does NOT give redress or apology. This is disappointing to groups nationwide and worldwide - and we'll make it known by speaking loudly and uniformly with our wallets to these celebrities, their products and advertisers, in a consistent and ongoing basis.
