The recent directive issued by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs relating to new requirements for Israeli citizens who need changes in documentation has serious impact on Israelis living in cities where there is no Israeli consulate.

 The new requirements oblige applicants to personally present themselves at a consular office for various documents and forms.  For Israelis living in communities without consulates, these travel requirements are quite onerous.  Until now, Israelis were able to have documents signed in front of a notary and submitted via mail.In the case of Vancouver, Israelis must now travel to Toronto – a 5 hour flight and a minimum $600 airfare.  If it is an issue concerning a minor, a parent and the child must personally appear in the consulate. For a family, this is a huge burden.We, Israelis living in the Vancouver area, appeal to the Israeli government, the Ministry of the Interior and the Population and Immigration Authority to not apply the new requirements in a blanket way worldwide, especially given the close relationship Canada has with Israel. We call on all community members concerned about the hardship this will have on Israelis who live in cities where there is no consulate, to join us in petitioning the Israeli Government to rescind this new directive.

הנהלים החדשים שפורסמו לאחרונה על ידי משרד החוץ בהקשר לדרישת התייצבות אישית בקונסוליה של אזרחים ישראלים לצורך ביצוע פעולות מסוימות מול משרד הפנים פוגעים באופן משמעותי בישראלים החיים במקומות בהם אין נציגויות ישראליות.

 ההנחיות החדשות מחייבות ישראלים המבקשים לבצע פעולות מסוימות הדורשות פנייה לשרות קונסולרי, להתייצב אישית בפני נציג קונסולרי של המדינה. עבור ישראלים החיים בקהילות ללא נציגות ישראלית הצורך להתייצב אישית מקשה ולעיתים אף בלתי אפשרי. עד עתה, הורשו ישראלים לחתום ולאשר מסמכים שונים מול נוטריון ולשלוח אותם בדואר.במקרה של וונקובר, ישראלים מחוייבים מעתה לטוס לטורונטו – טיסה של חמש שעות ומינימום 600 דולר לכרטיס טיסה. במידה ומדובר בקטין, הן ההורה והן הקטין חייבים להתייצב אישית בקונסוליה. עבור משפחה זו יכולה להיות מעמסה כבדה מאוד.אנו, הישראלים החיים בוונקובר רבתי, פונים לממשלת ישראל, משרד הפנים ורשות האוכלוסין וההגירה שיחזרו בם מיישום ההנחייה החדשה באופן גורף בכל הנציגויות בעולם, במיוחד בהתחשב ביחסים המיוחדים שנרקמו בין קנדה וישראל.

אנו קוראים לכל חברי הקהילה המודאגים כמונו מהקשיים שההנחיה החדשה מטילה על הישראלים החיים במקומות בהם אין נציגויות ישראליות להצטרף אלינו בקריאה לממשלת ישראל לבטל את ההנחייה.
