We are not in support of building new health centres when there are existing ones. We suggest that the existing ones be equipped with personnel and the necessary equipment. Building (and equipping) new ones will require more funds, and this is nothing but a waste of resources.

I absolutely concur with your views as i earlier indicated the same opinion on the issue. There is no need to build news PHC's unless if the will be built in areas where they don't have. Already there are existing PHC's built through the constituency project and are yet to be completed; equipped; manned and utilised for the benefit of the community.

Let's the Government equipt the existing PHCs first, before embarking on building new.The aim of establishing PHCs is not about the quantity but the quality

This government is believed to be committed to change, not propaganda or jamboree. There is no point building new primary health centres when the existing ones are in near comatose condition, just to impress people or make a statement. Change means doing what is right, what will really serve the interest of the masses and meet their needs, even when it is not popular. Let's equip the existing centers and make them of international standard. We will save more lives that way and provide better health services. We will also meet the needs of the people where it matters most.

The issue is not unavailability of structures. The issue is that available PHC structures are dead because they have not been equipped and empowered to function! Newly built ones will still be dead buildings if they are not made to function; So, it will be counted as wisdom to make already available structures functional instead of erecting new ones.

Spending of public fund that will not have meaningful impact in the lives of citizenry is tantamount to corruption. What an irony of a government that is fighting against corruption. Every sane person will know that it will be a waste of resources to build more PHCs whereas the earlier built ones are not functional. Or are building to compensate their political friends?

Change is the best thing that can happen to one in life. Let's change from our wasteful ways of doing business as usual. Most of the PHCs are just buildings without enough equipment, many cases of early deaths are due to shortage of everything including eg the personnel, drugs, etc. May God effect positive change in us more so that we are fighting Curruption.

This is definitely a reactionary move - the funds should be used in getting skilled manpower and medical equipment for the PHCs.

Let's equip the existing PHC structures on ground before thinking of building new ones.

I suggest that since we have existing 20,000 PHC, and only 20% functional,we should utilize fund to equip and maintain more standard to the existing ones.God bled Nigeria

Experience from the Global Fund health interventions that are linked to PHCs across the 36 states reveals deficiencies in infrastructure and personnel. Government should reconsider their decision on this ideas of building multiple PHCs but rennovate, employ and retain competent staff and replace equipment in already existing PHCs. This decision to me is politically inclined and not people centred .

I back this petition as we need to strengthen existing facilities and bring them up to standards both in infrastructure and operation. Any new facilities will be subject to the current poor standards.
