The Elk Grove Park District Board of Commissioners approved turning Udall Park into a dog park. The Elk Grove Park District is proposing to erect a 6-foot fence around the entire open grass area of the park. Not only would this fence be an eyesore compared to the open green grass we currently see, it has the potential to negatively affect our property values while bringing in a lot of parking, people, and dogs into our backyard. The owners of 615 who face West will no longer be able to sit on their balcony in a quiet, relaxing environment. The idea of bringing a new dog park into Elk Grove Village is great, but putting it right in our backyard is not the proper place for it. Join our voice to petition the park district to find a better location that is suited for a dog park. This public hearing will be held on Monday, September September 28 at 7:15 pm in the Council Chambers at the Charles J. Zettek Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007.

Updates

September 26, 2020

I really did not think this would gain this much steam but here we are and honestly my head is spinning a bit. It feels like the neighborhood is finally waking up to the reality of that fence and I am just so glad people are paying attention now even if the whole thing is still incredibly stressful to think about.

Would be way too noisy in a residential area. That is the only place where kids and families can play since we live in condos

I am absolutley against changing a park for people to a park for animals because it can significantly reduce the value of our residences

I work from home and this is not something I would want. Or to have dogs from my building barking at dogs during the day at dogs that are in the park. Children use that park. I think it is a poor use.

I am not in favor of this park! This will encourage non-residents to park in our parking spaces. The parking lot is already being abused with people parking there that don’t belong there. Also we don’t need any extra noise! we have the airplanes flying over us every five minutes!

The very idea of putting a three(3) acre dog park into a three(3) acre park in an all residential area is ludicrous. You cannot be serious.

As long term residents of Park place condominiums i am strongly against establishing this dog park . This is posing issue of disturbance of peace in our residential neighborhood.

There is no need for a dog park, build a tennis court or something. Do something that will be useful for the community instead of a disturbance.

We do not need a dog park in our neighborhood!
