According to the Clean Water Act, large coffee corporations such as Starbucks are some of the largest contributors to plastic pollution. Starbucks alone uses 8,000 plastic cups a minute, which adds up to more than 4 billion per year. Even though these corporations have vouched to start using more sustainable products, there has been little to no effort in enacting real change.

Plastic products like to-go cups end up in landfill, and ultimately into or oceans, harming the eco-systems and overall environment. To make an end to this the plastic pollution problem, we need to force these large corporations to start using sustainable and eco-friendly products. The to-go cup crisis is an issue that will only continue to become worse unless we don't hold these corporations accountable for their contribution to the mass amounts of plastic waste that is created.
