Dear Mayor Andy Watson, we the people believe that the Rangitikei Council should be doing all that it can in order to try and preserve Marton's heritage buildings and that we oppose any and all attempts by the council to purchase and demolish the Davenport and neighboring heritage buildings on the corner of High Street and Broadway, Marton so a new council building to be erected in their place. We would ask that the council revisit it's options and look to developing on an alternative site that doesn't require the demolition of heritage buildings so that they can be enjoyed by both current and future generations.

Martins heritage makes it a great wee town. It would be awful to lose another building. Can the facade be used at least if the whole building isn't feasible. There should at any rate be some public consultation.
Please do not pull the building down. At least be creative of mind and seek a way of using what is existing.
Sounds like a typical council blunder, when have councils anywhere not been self gratifying? At least they could keep the facade and the lovely ceilings that we remember or risk not being re elected !
I say NO to demolishing the heritage buildings and why destroy all that when it is apart of Marton"s history.
I will be back in Marton in Labour weekend for the school reunion. I will be rather p****d of if I find that these buildings have been demolished.....

If you lose this heritage, you make the town a worse place to live. A soulless box of an architecture town, where no one stops and simply use the bypass to evade. How can such irresponsibility be part of a democracy. Do you want to become another Palmerston North or feilding. Aim to be a Whanganui instead. Does tourism mean nothing to you?
