We call upon the Elected Members and Officers of Wiltshire Council to reject the proposal by “The Range” company to build a monstrous warehouse, distribution centre and retail outlet for furniture and leisure goods in the fields and open rural landscape on the western side of the Chippenham A350 bypass opposite Cepen Park North.

We therefore demand that Wiltshire Council Elected Members and Officers :

1. Reject “The Range” proposal because this edge of town retail operation will seriously damage the town centre leading to store closures and the loss of jobs.

2. Reject “The Range” proposal because it will breach the existing strategic A350 boundary to the town leading to uncontrolled and ugly industrial sprawl around the A350 bypass as has happened around Swindon and Basingstoke.

3. Reject “The Range” proposal because it will cause serious air, noise and light pollution in the surrounding area, huge traffic congestion at peak hours and a high risk of flooding on the Hardenhuish Brook and on into the town centre.

4. Confirm that the Chippenham Development Plan Document (DPD) will state that "the A350 is the clear and logical western boundary to the town”.
