Why would they want to build so many houses on this land? There are so many pieces of land to use without destroying beautiful and natural areas. The area will loose its natural beauty and what of all the wildlife that have build their homes? The properties already in the area will devalue and where will all these people work? More people = more schools, doctors, car parks, hospitals etc. the thought of all the traffic thundering through make me worry.

We have the same problem near me, developers want to build on a flood plain though!

The site is not appropriate for many reasons including a lack of suitable road access, no employment opportunities in the town, insufficient secondary school places, loss of greenbelt and associated wildlife habitats. I also believe access to this site is deeply flawed.

I object to this proposal due to the adverse effect that it will have on the local countryside and the dangers that increased traffic will bring.

The proposed housing development does not consider the needs of Uttoxeter as a community, has no capacity to generate jobs which are vital to the long term future of the town and will see the loss of the most significant "greenbelt" habitat for wildlife. This later point has been much overlooked.
The area proposed is home to protected species such as bats, badger and barn owls, and in addition throught the brook within is home to frogs which each year migrate to the pond on the Hazelwells community area to breed.
Other rare birds frequent the area.
Poor consideration has given to the volume of additional traffic the development cause and how this will dissipate into the town.

Another 400 houses with limited access, more traffic and congestion, no additional town facilities, major safety issues and the devasting effect on the rural greenbelt land. Uttoxeter is already a "commuting" town, everybody shops out of town. What will building 400 houses bring to the town - nothing other than all the issues mentioned above and more.

I agree with the comments created by WRAG and the information given to the press. Furthermore, there was serious flooding in Hazelwalls Park in February after a couple of days of snow and a rapid thaw. If this housing development goes ahead, the flooding might be even more severe and affect the area at the bottom of Kingfisher Way/Old Knotty Way and into Picknalls,

The population density in England is already too high, we should be trying to preserve our countryside not turn it all into concrete and tarmac. Some of the fields threatened are very wet, when it rains heavily we see a stream running down the field, where is all the water going to go to? Will we have to pay more on our water rates to maintain this unwanted development? We had a badger in the garden this summer, we see foxes in the fields, we see and hear lots of different birds including woodpeckers and we had yellow hammers this summer. We have a fairly dark sky and can see the stars on a clear night. I do not want to see all this destroyed. I do not believe that there is a housing shortage in Uttoxeter, and the infrastructure to support a higher population is not in place. I believe that the schools are already full, there are no shops in the high street left. The Borough Council appear to want Uttoxeter to be simply a dormitory town with big supermarkets and little else. It is very sad and it is also bad governance - to destroy the country we all profess to love by turning it into a large housing estate - why?
