East Staffordshire Borough Council has officially withdrawn the Hazelwalls development proposal from the local plan. Evidence regarding infrastructure capacity and flood risks ultimately forced a reconsideration of the project. We will monitor the council’s future site allocation reports to ensure this land remains protected.

Final supporters
The East Staffordshire Borough Council Local Plan is calling for 400 to 429 dwellings to be built on land to the south of Uttoxeter.
This encompasses land behind and/or adjacent to; Westland’s Road, ‘Tree Land’, Chartley Gate Close, Stanway Close and Blount’s Drive.
It is our opinion that
a) This proposed development, is in excess of both current planning consent, building work in progress and is well in excess of the 1,497 dwellings detailed in the current ESBC local plan.
b) The proposed development does not address the need for necessary infrastructure development to accommodate the increase in population.
c) The proposed development will have a serious negative impact on traffic density on the existing road network in the area.
d) The proposal does not adequately address the potential for flooding of the new development and, more importantly, adjacent existing properties.
e) In addition, there are also issues with regard to the suitability and density of housing being proposed on this development as well as the wholesale dissemination of virgin countryside.
f) Finally, this proposed development will bring with it seven years of disruption (Noise, dust, plant and machinery, etc.). All for a project that is incremental to the current ESBC Local Plan

I am finalizing the briefing document for the borough planning officer to ensure our specific infrastructure concerns regarding traffic and drainage are on the record.

We need housing in the UK. However, not at any cost. Virgin green land has to be kept that way for wildlife and for natural drainage. Uttoxeter's current infrastructure would not be at all suitable for this proposed development and should in my view be vehemently opposed.
Already a nightmare trying to get out of Blounts Drive at certain times of the day. The infrastructure could not cope with the increase in constant traffic.
Where are the jobs for these new residents? Where will their children go to school? How will we get through Uttoxeter in rush hour with all the extra traffic? Why are we building on beautiful green field countryside?
I strongly oppose this development , my mother and I were victims of a serious flood in the year 2000 , the water came from hazelwalls farm and over the park ! New housing will exacerbate this risk and further serve to destroy the beautiful countryside surrounding our town , a countryside that marks our identity as a pretty semi rural market town .
There are plans approved for 1200 houses in Uttoxeter, mostly on brownfield land, which have never been built on.Why build on green fields.This must plan must be rejected.
Save the green spaces before there are non left!!!

Does Uttoxeter really need another 429 houses? The town has already lost its Market Town identity and appeal. Traffic in and around the town is terrible and we appear to be losing our green fields at a rapid rate. Planners need to think again or is money more important than the will of the people of Uttoxeter.
