Say no to the 4-grade class size at Roaring Brook Elementary
It was recently announced at a BOE meeting that the promised 5 sections for Roaring Brook's 4th-grade class would be reduced to 4. This change means that Roaring Brook's 4th-grade sections will have 24.5 students per class in September 2023, disproportionate to CCSD's other 4th-grade sections.
The two additional elementary schools in CCSD do not have as many students per section: Grafflin Elementary's 4th-grade sections will have 19.75 students, and Westorchard Elementary's 4th-grade sections will contain 18.75 students.
Parents of Roaring Brook 4th graders and CCSD recognize this decision as inequitable and unsupportive of their children's education. We unanimously agree that class size directly influences our children's quality of education and request that the CCSD revert to the promised increase of 5 sections.
