We're on Lehigh, right off of Picadilly and I don't want a Wal-Mart there either. How horrible! I can't believe that even makes sense to someone? Makes you feel like they are trying to take advantage of us, and counting on no one saying anything. Great breakdown, by-the-way.

Courtney, I couldn't agree with you more in reference to the increase traffic on larger streets. With our kids having to ride bikes or walk to Sky Vista and the surrounding elementary schools, it's going to exponentially increase the flow of traffic for that area. Yes, put in a small medical building or something smaller, but Wal-Mart (or similar store) is NOT the answer. Unfortunately, I was out of town when the meeting occurred, so I was unable to attend, but I did sign the petition and will follow up with an e-mail to the developer. If they HAVE to put something there, then give us options and let us vote on what we want to have in our neighborhood.

Her name is Molly (not Monika) Orkild-Larson. I emailed her and she replied saying she would pass my email on to the Planning Commission, applicant, and other County staff.

Is anyone aware of what the new zone would be (B-1, B-3, B-4 or B-5)? I specifically ask because Section 7-302– Allowed uses for zones B-4 & B-5 expressly PERMIT "Sexually-oriented business" and the building site is located less than 1/10th a mile from 2 daycare centers and 1 mile or less from 2 elementary schools & 1 middle school. I have many other complaints (aligned with county code sections that would be violated if this is approved), but I find this one most disturbing...

Absolutely not. If you are that lazy to drive to Southlands than have it delivered. There are plenty of King Soopers within 2 miles. Bottom line get out of the house.

We have almost 300 signatures. If all of you could take a moment and send an email to the project manager at Arapahoe county I think we can stop this. Her name is Monika Orkild-Larson, her email is [email protected]. I am posting the email I sent. If you choose please copy and put you own name and address. I want to make it easy to send to her.
Hello,
I am a homeowner in the Tallgrass subdivision. I am against the rezoning of land for case #p14-007. We have a quiet, family oriented neighborhood that we would like to remain that way. I feel that bringing in a large chain grocery store will add an undesirable element to our neighborhood. I feel it will increase traffic on the larger streets, making it unsafe for our children riding bikes and playing. We bought our house with that land having plans for a small medical building, not a large retail store. Please vote against the rezoning and keep our neighborhood and children safe. Thank you.

Within 5 miles of Tallgrass, we have: 5 King Soopers stores; 2 Sprouts stores; 5 Safeway stores; 1 Albertson's store; 5 WalMart/WalMart Neighborhood Markets; and 4 Target/Target Superstores. I think we have enough grocery stores in the area. When we went through this same thing in 2007, we told the developer we would allow daycare centers, banks, liquor stores, and even a family oriented restaurant to be built in the empty lot(s). I know they want to sell the land, but I ABSOLUTELY do not want a WalMart behind my house! Besides, the WalMart would pretty much butt right up against the park. Who wants to go to the park and have a nasty WalMart right there? NOT US!

While I do think it would be kind of awesome to be able to walk to the grocery store I would much rather it be a small Mom and Pop kind of store...Like Trader Joes only without all they hype. Really don't want all of that congestive traffic in our quiet neck of the woods. :(
