Say NO to SB 513 Deer Farming

This bill is so wrong in so many ways it is hard to comment. When CWD comes to NC it is not only the deer hunters and deer populations that will suffer. Fighting this no win fight will suck the money out of all natural resource and ag programs.

The passing of Senate Bill 513 is democracy at its worst. Not only did Legislators ignore their responsibility to the People of North Carolina in protecting our Public Trust; they allowed themselves to be intimidated by West, Jackson, and other bill sponsors, each of whom are financially tied to this special interest initiative. Each voting for this bill should be ashamed; and will regret their decision in time as CWD ravages our environment, our wildlife resources and our State budget. This will be THEIR LEGACY - Don't let them forget that! Did they think for one minute that deer pen operators care about North Carolina????

The science-based information is quite definitive on this topic. Why are we going against it? Very disappointed with the back-door politics, but you still have a chance to make it right. Please do the right thing!

The provision not only puts an important natural resource at risk, but it also further usurps the authority of the administrative branch of government; in this case the Wildlife Resources Commission. The provision is also illegal, in my opinion and that of many others, in that the NC Constitution provides that regulation of ALL native NC wildlife falls under the Wildlife Resources Commission.

Please take this issue seriously and veto the bill. There many specific and documented reasons why moving control of deer held in fenced areas should remain under the jurisdiction of the NC WRC.

I can't believe how careless the legislature has acted. They've completed ignored the other states which have allowed deer farming with a result of CWD! This is a graceful act on the part of a handful of legislators ignoring the Public Trust for Wildlife in North Carolina. This will be your Legacy!

Epic failure on many levels. Disease and western nc already has low number of deer population.
