H’Ville needs to renovate the commercial properties that are already located on the peninsula, not build new multi-fam homes that the infrastructure can’t support. (The street is only 2 lanes & 35 mph!) Most of the retail/commercial buildings look terrible, are old and the majority do not support the needs of people living on Walton Ferry. The buildings are an eye sore and bring low-rent businesses. I’m afraid H’Ville’s leaders don’t care about this area because they live in the “rich” neighborhoods and will continue to make bad decisions bc it’s not in their backyard . There’s so many natural resources that could make this area a “go-to” spot for locals, but that won’t happen with more apartments.
Then the older, less desirable apartments bring less desirable activities, which leads to a less desirable place to live and no one wants that. Please no re-zone!
