South Africa gets an abundance of sunshine, so while we have solar we could use more. Give consumers a tax break for installing solar for their homes and lessen the drag on the national grid. There are areas that have constant wind in this country so wind power seems a logical add-on.
Third but probably the most important is to stop wastage. Every store in this country is kept nice and cool with air-conditioning. Every store in this country leaves their exterior door open, requiring the air-conditioner to run continuously. The Building Code needs to be changed to make it mandatory for revolving doors to be installed where air-con is installed in major complexes. Also, air-con units take in fresh air, therefore leaving windows open seems to defeat the purpose of running the air-con.
