Allendale Public Schools should be ashamed of themselves! The discrimination from both the county and the public schools in Ottawa is absolutely not something I will ever support. Kids deserve better then to be affected by this political move that pushes away anyone that is not a typical learning white person, as a special needs parent myself I find it disgusting and shameful, and I will fight with the parents in Allendale that oppose this move.

My son thrived being surrounded by peers despite having accommodations due to a brain injury. Had he been separated he would not be where he is today, in college pursuing a degree in music education. This would be detrimental to students who may need a little extra help to succeed. Say NO to NSBLC

After reading the literature about the proposed segregation of students with learning challenges, I am 100% certain that this type of doctrine goes against the "Every Student Succeeds Act" (ESSA, 2015). Also, where would the funding for teachers, faculty, and facilities come from for such a large new building? ADHD, anxiety, diabetes, asthma, and any condition which would require a student to have a 504 would place them in the "special" program based on the guidelines being considered by the board.

We are against the exclusive separation of special needs children and typical children stated in the new associations recommendations. We believe society/children need to INCLUDE people/children from ALL abilities.

The NSBLC was only founded 2014 whereas the Michigan Assoiciation of School Boards was founded in 1940 thus providing much more experience and knowledge. The NSBLC contains concerning language that if implemented, will be detrimental to many APS students.

Michigan Association of School Boards has done an awesome job in offering various classes and seminars to the previous members of Allendale School Board. For several years the board received an award from MASB for having all Allendale Board members being certified School Board Members. I have been taking classes and attending seminars with MASB for over twenty-two years and find the experience invaluable. I am also a member of the MASB Board of Directors representing Region 3 of which Allendale Public Schools is a member.
