If science and engineering can split atoms and put a man on the moon, surely a solution to sewage treatment that doesn't involve pumping it into the sea, can be found?

We already have a hospital and an airport to deal with. We don't need a water treatment plant, especially one not servicing the area. It shouldn't be in any densely populated area!
