We live in a city of dictatorship now? Where's the public consultation before its decided? And that goes with many other things that the mayor have decided, which is causing havoc around the city.
Within blocks, there's senior homes, mini school, elementary school, secondary school, day care centre, Montessori, community centre, sports fields, where KIDS or SENIORS that CAN'T PROTECT THEMSELVES roam freely! Now we put basically homeless camp there? Have you ever seen what many people do when they live on the street or very poorly and they get access to a house? Just recently a report of rental unit paid by the city for the homeless have been basically destroyed. Just because you have not seen first hand of how bad things go with people that's desperate and poor with a place they can stay that ain't theirs doesn't mean you can turn a blind eye. I know how bad and costly it is to the landlord and even the city or police when there's a unit infested with these people, crime rate goes way up, they wreck the house, garbage everywhere around and even beyond the property, many many times police have to visit the house, burning of garbage in barrels where firefighters come and landlord have to foot the bill, even break in to the other parts of the house, try to set the house on fire multiple times, break in even after boarding up the house after evicting all of them. All these are real, police records are there, all in one house. Time for you to wake up!
And he's not thinking of the more important aspects of what actually happens when he want to "go green".
Like bike lanes, causing a lot more cars idling waiting for bikes that's not even there to stop, accelerate just to stop again for bikers to run against the law and pollute the environment, clearing snow for bikes in winter which is a major hazard

This modular housing project has the right intention but the location is wrong.
It's too close to 3 schools, for the safety of the school students it should be located at alternative sites. Further more Marpole residents should have being consulted from the beginning of the project conception not at the very last minute for consultation.
The questions put forward by the residents of Marpole at the consultation period were not answered but only carefully crafted and regurgitated statements as answer with no concrete details.
The provincial government should bear the responsibility for treating the people with mental or drug issues in a medical institutions and they should not be in social housing projects where they may cause harm to school children or the community.
