City should respect the Marpole residents' voices. Our basic Human Rights gurantee our safety. Although the government is trying to solve the homeless population issue, it is not a responsible decision since it will cause more problems in our community. Our major concern is our kids' safety. We would like for the mayor to address this issue and to find an alternative housing for the homeless shelter.

Hello there Gregor Robertson and your fellow council members. Something shady is going on; why did this plan get approved so quickly and without proper consultation with the Marpole community? Why in the world would Onni give you "free" land? Putting that aside, the most important thing is that YOU are putting our vulnerable children at risk. I'm shaking my head right now; I thought that the government would rather put our children's safety first, but oh boy was I wrong. I would like to disclaim that I am a full supporter of homeless housing and I believe that you are going in the right direction, doing something good with our hard-earned tax money. But what were you guys thinking?! Homeless housing across from three schools with thousands of kids? It would have been a lot better if it were on the other side of the site, near Cambie Street. Did you know that the government is supposed to represent what its citizens want, and I clearly do not see that principle reflected in this situation. Kids are important, and their safety is always number one. You cannot say with absolute certainty that there is no risk associated with homeless housing in such close proximity with the three schools. Onto the next point, this site does not hold much benefit for the homeless people either. This is a residential area with no services, restaurants, etc. nearby. You are putting the homeless into an environment that they feel isolated in, and from there more problems may arise. Heck, even the bus stop is considerably far away! This is indisputably not the right place for these people who need help. So, remember that this is the right idea but it is indubitably the wrong location. Furthermore, consultation is greatly needed with the Marpole residents and it is simply unfair and incorrect for the government to act so rashly. It does not make sense to build the modular house near schools. I do support homeless people but it is risky to children who are so near by. I believe there are lots of better places for homeless people. We have to make sure our children are in a safety community.
