The reason why we moved from downtown to marpole area because the city cannot manage the homeless shelters properly. You just dont feel safe anymore.

It starts with temporary, then it becomes a legacy and stays for good.
This Cambie Corridor is an upcoming place with all the new condo developments that will surely be devalued by this homeless shelter.
Whats is so dangerous is this location is so close to so many schools. If anything "bad" should happen to any children; e.g. such as being prick by a HIV infected needle on school grounds while playing in the fields. Will the City of Vancouver take responsibility for putting such a potentially dangerous environment in such a vulnerable school location?
This idea is absurd!!
Try putting that in the Mayor's neighborhood! Lets see if he gets elected in the next Civic Election?

I concur that this looked to be commendable (i.e.,temporary modular housing for the homeless) but it is a terrible location, which is just across an elementary school. I don't buy the assertion that there are no alternative suitable locations. I think the Mayor tend to think Marpole residents are gullible.

This is the most poorly thought out plan, wait it wasn't thought out! There are children who will sit on needles at lunch on the grass, pick them up, play with them, as young as 5. There are teens who may become the next addict when enticed to buy from a homeless man in need of their next hit. These are the realities. There are NO homeless shelters this CLOSE! Let's not forget about the seniors who need to keep healthy and go for a walk. They get mugged, they fall, they can die from their injuries. Why should we pay taxes, thousands a year to live in a safe community when the homeless are dropped here for free. They deserve a location where they will feel at home with resources in a community they are closer to residing in. SAFETY FIRST FOR OUR CHILDREN AND SENIORS!

I am writing to express my concern regarding the proposal to build modular housing at the above site, which centres around the alignment of this proposal to the Housing Vancouver Strategy, as well as the consultation process followed to date.

Putting a drug and homeless shelter on the most expensive part of Marpole shows how stupid the government. I'm surprised they are not offering mountain and waterviews to these people.

The planed temporary term is long enough in a kid's childhood. Kids are the nation's future, we want to take care homeless but please use a location not this close to schools!

Lets be real here, placing a homeless shelter literally next to an elementary + high school, is the dumbest idea any city/ housing planner could do. Either they cut a shady backroom deal for usage of that piece of land, or our mayor (who might possibly be slowly descending into lunacy) saw this as an opportunity to boost his crumbling pr image by pulling this stunt. Either way, this decision was made without community consultation, and definitely made without any forethought to the possible impact of the surrounding areas.
Or this was actually thought out carefully, and they didn't want to hear any community opinions/ criticisms. This could very well be a very shady, but elaborate plan to solve the housing prices around the general area.
I.e. by throwing a shelter smack dab in the middle of the neighborhood is like surgically dropping a nuke in the heart of the residential area, wiping the desirability of the place and causing prices to plummet. A possible fix but creating a lot of potential security risks in the future.
The intentions behind the of building these modular shelters was good, but the locational planning with no foresight, no community consultation, is advanced level moronic and absolutely irresponsible.
