Say NO to Metro at Freeport Community Library
The Greater Portland Transit District is finalizing their plans for the Metro Bus to come to Freeport and one of the three stops will be our Freeport Community Library. They determined this location to be a convenient turn around stop and drop off/pick up location for Metro customers. Passengers will be allowed to park in the lot and use the library as a pit stop. The bus is scheduled to come and go 9 times a day with as many as 120 passengers coming and going daily all year round, starting this June.
We love our library – it is a safe place for our children to learn to become independent adults, a quiet place to curl up with a book, a peaceful place to sit outside and enjoy the garden. It is also one of the few places in our town that is not visited by tourists - it is just for us. There are other locations in town. Please join me in opposing our library as a bus stop.
