It makes Sooo much more sense for Peralta & Sankofa to merge. Kaiser is a sweet stand alone school that serves a great diverse community. Peralta & Sankofa are obviously divided by race & class and they are in the Same neighborhood, this is about a bunch of entitled white and more wealthy ppl not wanting to merge with the “Black & Brown” school. Just say it. Don’t bully Kaiser into closing it’s school.

My daughter went to Peralta in the late 1980's and now Peralta has been the elementary school for all three of her children, the youngest one now in the fifth grade. It is perfect the way it is and will not be made better with a split campus.

Doing this haphazardly, which right now there isn’t an extensive transition plan, will hurt the education of the school

Peralta has been an excellent school at least since my children attended it in the 1970s. It should not be split into two locations.

It didn’t work for Lafayette Elementary or MLK Jr in Oakland so it will fail all at Peralta & Sankofa too.

I write as a resident of North Oakland since 1972 and homeowner since 1989. Sankofa needs more resources. That is the solution: not merging 2 schools and creating a nightmare for both. To dismantle our neighborhood school that finally not only is working but is recognized for excellence...after such a long struggle to build it from disrepair... would be pitiful.

this merger would disrupt a community that has a solid foundation built over 20 years. The community would be scattered as many families would seek alternatives outside of the area. We are united at our school and as a united front we can help our community and expand that radius-but the a merger would set us way back. Please support our community and it's growth!
