The local planning committee officially denied the permit for the Lomond Terrace development this morning. We are now monitoring the site to ensure no alternative proposals are submitted by the developers.

Petition:

We who have attached our names hereto are vehemently opposed to the granting of a planning permit for the construction of a “residential village” – a three-story block of flats – proposed to be located at 46 Lomond Terrace, East Geelong. We are also opposed to any reduction of car parking requirements for the proposed development. Furthermore, we strongly oppose the allocation of taxpayer funding to this development by way of capital grant, recurrent funding or any other means.

The scale of this response is sufficient to secure a formal meeting with the city planning department. I am now preparing the documentation to present our objections regarding the density and parking waivers at that hearing.

Any probability other than zero of an incident is unacceptable given the high density of children in the immediate area. The facility will respond with words to the like "We will manage the risk etc etc" which is just rhetoric . Simple as that. There are many locations around the area of Greater Geelong that make more sense

I am concerned that this proposal will effect the integrity of the neighbourhood. I feel it is too close to a primary school and day care centre and liquor shop. It is also unimaginable to see how they cater for parking for residents and visitors. Having lived here almost all my life I feel there must be better alternatives for this facility.

Very tricky seeking to re submit the application when we don't have a council. No changes have been made to the application from 2014, even the photos are the same so just a cynical attempt to subvert local opinion. Motivated by Good Christian behaviour or corporate greed!!?

A three storey development in this location would dwarf the surrounding housing and prove intrusive to the surrounding houses. In addition to this, parking around the proposed site is already at a premium with services nearby. Accomodation of this sort without provision for appropriate off street parking is illogical.

I am opposed to this. I live across the road and I believe this building will look out of place, affect property values and parking will be a huge issue. It is also opppsite a primary school and daycare Center which my children attended and I am very concerned for their safety.

I have had children at the centre for over a decade and understand the traffic. Toddlers and children are constantly crossing this road which is already too busy. Increasing the number of residents in the street would be tragic. Not a good fit.

I do not think this location is suitable, due to schools and bottle shop. Parking needs are already tight with sidewalks having cars parked up the kerb as it is. Hoons speed around the roundabout all hours, safety of neighbors is paramount.
