I am a single working mom- I know I share this title with many other employees in APS. Please do not extend the school year. It negatively impacts the little time I already have with my child.
It is too late to plan for the extended time next year.
80 hours of additional PD that is not content specific does not respect our time.
This year has been so tumultuous... Please don't extend our year and take more time away from our families. The well being of your employees will make for more productive and HAPPY employees!

Teachers are continuously asked to do more even though they scramble to keep up with the load they carry each year. This school year has been no exception. We are now doing the nearly impossible task of teaching remotely and in person in the middle of a pandemic. It feels as though teachers are never enough or do enough. It's sad.

Extending the school year this next year or any year is not in ANY way efficient. APS returned this past month without even close to enough resources to do so. We are short teachers, supplies that we need to just function on a normal level, let alone a pandemic. We are short water for students, classrooms, and the Health Office. We are short security to assure any semblance of safety. We are short proper ventilation - many many teachers are unable to even have 3 feet apart from desks/students AND they have NO windows in the classroom and are not able to prop their doors. Not to mention this is NOT according to our safety issues for shooters, etc.

more time does NOT equal = more education. More PD ?? are they kidding?? Students have lost NOTHING.. according to my students. It has merely been delayed. 10 days is NOT in the classroom

10 more days added to the school year will do nothing for students. It will only provides babysitting services for parents. Teachers are educators and not babysitters.
