Say No to Dynamic Pricing on Ticketmaster!
Whenever a music artist drops dates for an upcoming concert, this can be exciting for many but for some the thought of facing skyrocketing and excessive fees and ticket prices is worrisome. Concerts are meant to be unforgettable experiences, but with high fees like the ones observed in ticketing service providers like, Ticketmaster concerts can turn into agonizing moments.
Ticketmaster, founded in 1976 is considered to be the world’s largest ticket marketplace that offers an array of tickets for all kinds of events. Through their partnerships with other event organizers, these organizations are able to make their tickets available through Ticketmaster and offer many other kinds of services.
To give some context, throughout the years, Ticketmaster has become very popular and heavily used amongst a diverse population of concert enthusiasts. However, a main issue that has arisen over the years is the implementation of Ticketmaster’s official platinum tickets also known as dynamic pricing which was introduced in 2011.
Since 2011 Ticketmaster claims that official platinum tickets are not resale tickets but rather they 100% reflect the original price of the ticket that are being sold for the first time through Ticketmaster on behalf of the artist or Event Organizer. This feature creates an imbalance of ticket prices as some seats end up costing a lot more than anticipated without taking into consideration the additional fees that come with purchasing an official platinum ticket. It is important to keep in mind that these kinds of tickets don’t entitle the purchaser(s) to any additional perks despite the drastic difference in ticket prices and fees.
Due to the influx of official platinum tickets, throughout the years this makes it more difficult and tedious to obtain regular non-official platinum tickets as these are more limited in quantity. Depending on the high demand for an event this can lead Ticketmaster to sneak in a lot of official platinum tickets so buyers are led to accept and suffice with the additional fees and high fees when purchasing the tickets.
While some consumers might not realize and mind that they’ve purchased an official platinum ticket, other consumers on the other hand are faced with the inability to afford a ticket and risk the opportunity of not attending an event they hoped for because of the difference in ticket prices and limited availability of regular non-official platinum tickets that cost a lot less.
With that being said, this petition is asking for Ticketmaster to remove this feature of dynamic pricing and increase the quantity of normal priced tickets to ensure people are presented with opportunities too easily afford a ticket. As well, the implementation of irrelevant fees on top of the price of the ticket are very much unneeded and I am sure that the removal of unnecessary fees will allow buyers to feel at ease when purchasing their tickets and be fully aware as to what additional fees they are subjected to pay for.
In addition, I am certain that the removal of dynamic pricing will allow for larger groups of people who might have been faced with the inability to purchase tickets due to the high prices and fees, with the opportunity to have easier access to obtain non-official platinum tickets (normal tickets) for a lesser fee and hassle.
Through this petition, I hope you’re willing to realize and accept the severity of this issue the next time you purchase tickets through Ticketmaster. I hope you’re inclined to partake in this movement of removing dynamic pricing and allow for tickets to be labeled at reasonable prices without additional and unnecessary fees. So, the next time you wish to purchase tickets through Ticketmaster remember the serious impact that dynamic pricing has on your ability to afford a ticket with ease.
Remember with a push of a button, you will be part of the movement of creating a more stress-free and affordable environment when purchasing tickets through Ticketmaster.
