The Death Penalty is a form of punishment that is legal in some states. This is where if a person has committed a crime that they will serve in prison for more than a life sentence, then can be tried for the death penalty. This is a legal practice that needs to be stopped, and this petition is aimed to do that.

It is currently outlawed in only 18 states and legal in the 32 others. It is commonly given through lethal injection, electric chair, or if requested, a firing squad. Other methods may be used, which can be worse.The state should not give itself the power to kill a human in the name of the law or its people. It violates the 8th amendment.

Why do we need this to be banned? Around 1/10 people who are sentenced to death are exonerated/innocent. Since 1973, over 140 people have been released for being ‘framed’, and have been found not guilty after being sentenced.

The Death Penalty is INHUMANE. This punishment, which is against the 8th Amendment, should not be allowed and is a terrible punishment that should be against the law.
