Local residents depend on this parking! Many of our buildings do not have parking available. This will displace hundreds of cars to other streets and create a shortage.
I ride the bus regularly, and it navigates the street just fine, a bus priority lane is not needed.

This is a terrible plan that addresses a problem that does not exist. In fact it will create many problems, from more double parking that will result in slower busses, more pedestrian risk as moving vehicles will not be able to see around large double parked vehicles and extreme hardship for the residents who need their cars in a neighborhood where parking is already challenging.

This was sold to us as a way to curb speeding and increase safety, but is clearly an opportunity to spend money on benefits for WABA pet projects and unnecessary bus priorities. Two speed bumps on Columbia Road would do more for pedestrian safety; this merely decreases parking and increases the complexity of living, driving, and walking in this area. Less parking means increased time with angry motorists circling the blocks. Less space for access to high density buildings and businesses for deliveries and car share/taxi pickup and drop off. This plan shows total disregard for the residents of the area, yet bows to the perceived superiority of bicyclists and buses. It will only increase the density of traffic at peak times as residents, contractors, in-home nurses, cleaning professionals, visitors, delivery professionals and the like jockey for spaces they can only hoe will be within reasonable walking distance to their destinations. Don’t pretend this will increase bike usage or decrease car usage. It will only complicate our streets and make them more hectic and dangerous. If you don’t believe this, please pick a building on Columbia and try to park in front of it around 6 pm. You’ll see it’s nearly impossible, and that’s with the 80 or so spaces this plan wants to eliminate.

As I recall, our local ANC voted to approve the proposal before the public comment period had ended. To-date, neither DDOT nor the ANC has been interested in residents' opinions on the plan.

I oppose this plan because we do not need faster buses (it would be a traffic hazard), because it will considerably decrease the number of parking spaces in an area already very tight for parking, and because not everyone can go around life on a bike (this is very ableist).

Proposed new plan eliminates flexibility. The EXISTING arrangement must be maintained. It allows some flexibility for moving trucks, Food & Friends deliveries, plumbers, utility trucks, & delivery vehicles (USPS, etc.) and DC Gov transport & official vehicles.

Ridiculous, as are many new proposal in the last few months. Traffic is worse not better and will not be reduced be this crazy change. More people being ordered back to work! Traffic is even worse because of reduction of lanes.

This is intended to tax the neighbor as well as every delivery type of service and the latter taxes those just getting by. This is an assault on commerce.

We already have a good, working, and balanced system of parking, bus and vehicular travel, and painted bike lanes in these blocks. It is imperfect but it works for everyone. The neighborhood neither needs not wants this dangerous project.

I live at 2022 Columbia Rd NW. This condo building has 120 units, whose residents depend on street parking.

I join this petition. Having met with DOT representatives this past week, I hope they understand that the fast-bus lane is an unwise idea in our neighborhood. Same for the bike lane, which would endanger pedestrians and prevent access by service vehicle to residences.

The bus lane proposal for the 2000 block of Columbia RD NW makes no sense! The traffic mash up at California and Connecticut will not be alleviated. Also, what is the impact of the protected bike lanes on this emergency evacuation route?
