The Labour party has never been so undemocratic. Decisions voted on at conference totally vetoed by the party leadership. I consider this a much greater deficit of democracy than allowing a movement with 6 million members have some kind of a say in a party of 200000.

If a prostitute offered a thousand pounds to repair the church roof, should that be turned down? If it does turn the money down and a week later the roof falls in, was that a mistake? Morals over donations are lovely. But Blair won three elections for Labour. Between 1979 and 1997, we - Labour - were the also ran's in elections. Irrelevant to the voter. This constant hatred of Blair and accusations over illegal wars, shows no following among the general public and voters. Its our own little internal punch up. If Blair has money to help Labour fight elections then take it. If the unions want a Tory government then do not give money to the Labour party. that is their choice. But only Labour can offer anything to the unions. Not funding the party because Labour has changed to - well almost a democratic one member one vote party - shows sadly how out of touch some union leaders are. Cutting ones nose of to spite ones face me thinks.
