Redwood Contractors purchased a single-family home wanting to build 6 townhomes (paid $285k for 0.52 acre lot). The land must first be rezoned from the current single-family status its held since 1951. The mature treescape will then be replaced with asphalt and 3-story townhomes increasing runoff water, traffic, and noise. This development guts the Brookhaven-Peachtree Overlay District goals and guidelines including not being within 15ft of the sidewalk (they're over 90ft), no sidewalk pathways, not being pedestrian friendly, not facing the street, exceeding height limitations, and not providing proper pedestrian and landscape zones. The Brookhaven Planning Commission has already voted (5-2) to deny these townhomes and the BPCA is against these townhomes because they do not conform with the Overlay. This development also does not meet underlying zoning requirements to RM-100 (min 2 acres and 100ft street frontage).
